Bridal Trial Tips

It’s that time of year again, the 2016 Wedding Season has begun!

I offer my clients a bridal package that includes a trial application. I’ve had a few clients want to pass on this step, which is a big No-No!

Bridal trials are so important, this is normally the first time you and your makeup artist will be meeting. It’s a great way to break the ice, during this time I have an opportunity to get to know my client. We discuss details of the wedding from location, number of guests, style, etc. It’s so important for the artist and client to get to know each other.

The trial usually runs about an hour and a half, it gives us time to try out different looks. The goal is to have a stress free wedding day, a trial is an important step to ensure that happens.

Since you’ve decided to go ahead with a trial here are some tips to make sure it’s successful.

#1 Clean Skin

Clean skin is essential to having a successful trial. Please wash away any makeup that you migh be wearing. If you take your makeup off with makeup removing wipes, make sure to rinse your face with water afterwards. The wipes will leave a residue on your skin and the makeup your artist applies will not sit correctly.

#2 Skin Care Routine

We will be discussing your skin care routine. Let’s face it we all have our individual issues with our skin. We will assess your skin and depending on your current routine, I may suggest some changes to help you have healthier skin for you big day.

#3 Be Prepared

I ask my clients to do their research, have an idea of how you want your makeup to look. You can search online or on Pinterest (But please keep in mind that 99% of the time those photos have layers and layers of filters on them) these photos will help me to better understand the look you’re going for.

#4 Your Hair

If you’ve decided how you’re going to be wearing your hair on your wedding day it’s recommended that you wear your hair in a similar fashion for your trial.

#5 Jewelry

Have any jewelry on hand for your trial, this will help you to see the overall look.

#6 Wear White

I ask my clients to wear a top with a similar cut and colour of their wedding dress. Wearing white or Ivory ( or whatever colour your dress is) helps you to see what your makeup will look like in your wedding day.

#7 Take pictures

Bridal makeup is applied differently than your every day makeup application. You want to ensure that your makeup is going to look fantastic a in a variety of settings both indoor and outdoor. Once your trial is complete take a couple of photos of yourself to make sure you’re absolutely happy with the final product.

Thank you for taking a few moments to read my suggestions!
